In 2008, Luna left New York City on a Fulbright scholarship to write a book about dance in Egypt. She holds a master’s in Middle Eastern Studies from Harvard University and a B.A. in journalism and political science. She is fluent in Egyptian Arabic, Spanish and English. For her own safety and security, Luna prefers to use only her first name.
Leela Corman’s latest graphic novel, Unterzakhn, has been nominated for the L.A. Times Book Award and The Eisner Award, and won Le Prix Mille Pages in 2012. Corman and her husband, Tom Hart, are the founders of the Sequential Artists Workshop, a non-profit organization dedicated to the prosperity and promotion of comic art and artists. She is also an accomplished belly dancer and belly-dance instructor.
